Poverty, a term which as we all said before, can seem quite subjective but has a general meaning, which is to not have the necessary resources to satisfy your own personal needs. Between all the different pictures we could choose, poverty still remained (in different ways) as the big theme in all of them. Our group has decided to focus especially on children poverty. It was very shocking for me to see all the pictures we could choose even only focusing on kids, it made me realize that there are so many people who need international help, they don't have their human rights granted and yet no one seems to really care, that's really sad to see.
This picture could be the definition of poverty itself, all the children who live here don’t have enough money to live in a decent house, with a decent street which isn’t full of garbage and to be able to have some food and water. Basically they have to fight for what we actually consider granted since we’ve been born. That is something we shouldn’t tolerate as a society. The UN, the governments etc. claim to be helping a lot these countries, but in reality you can see they are doing the bare minimum compared to what they could achieve, even here in Spain they claim to be so comprehensive and helpful to the poor community in Siria for example, but then you notice that we are one of the countries that has sold weapons to the ones that are causing all the trouble. It's sad how the only thing people seem to care nowadays is money, and how they value it more than human lives, that has to change.
In this picture the first thing we focus on is the kid wearing a backpack and some clothes, probably he may be coming from some sort of school, but then, we focus on the background and it’s when we see the conditions this kid may be living in. We can see all these little cabins, made of mud and some iron plates, which they use as houses, there’s also all that rubbish on the floor, making it seem like the place is some dump. But the reality is that there’s a lot of people living in there, probably a lot more than we can imagine seeing the loads of houses there are, struggling every day to stay alive. At the background we can distinguish another boy, who also seems to be wearing nice clothes. This kids may have had a lot of luck to be able to go to school and have a backpack, but in return the conditions they must live in are totally insane, probably they don’t even have electricity nor even drinking water and may have to go to a river or somewhere to get some just after they come back from school. The struggles this people have to live with are inhuman, no one deserves to have to stay in this conditions.
